The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a film adapted from a book written no so long ago, relates the story of a teenage and what does it feel growing and going through high school. It is more intimate than a diary, Charlie´s (main character) personality can be defined as one of a kind, funny and gentle boy. Trap in the middle of the desire of living a normal life, his life, and at the same time running away from it, Charlie finds himself in an unknown ambient for him.
Charlie presents a world of new experiences as the first date and music tapes, family drama and new friends, the world of alcohol, drugs and sex, where the only thing that matters is finding the right song while you drive to the infinity, myself a twenty-four years old lady no long ago was in a similar place in my life, a place where I felt I didn’t belong and in some way, from the first day at the university I started to count the days to finished it while days has pasted, I changed this feeling all the way around, I find myself enjoying the experience and embracing each day situations, of course it wouldn’t have happened if I had not met the correct people, those that now are my friends.
It wasn´t just one of the characters that made an impact in my way of look at living, Patrick and of course Sam are reflected in my position and the attitude that I know have for live situations as they come to me. I have never considered that I had trouble making friends, in regular basis I was friendly, and it came natural to me to related to people, moving to the campus signified big step for me, for the first time I was all by me own, having grown in a very close family, I think, was the reason I was scared of this new phase in my story; In this new chapter of, I consider me so close to freshmen Charlie, as days went trough I got to know a lot of people, most of them I immediately recognized that weren´t the people that I would like to be around, just like Charlie at the cafeteria analyzing groups of people and making my own conclusions about everybody, later I realize that I was wrong.
A couple of months pass and the university was in my opinion just Ok, my behavior was a little more submissive, without notice I became a wallflower, once I saw the movie I felt so identified with it and my current situation, thought to myself that this university experience could be better if I acknowledge some of the movie character characteristics, lost the fear of charring my thoughts as Charlie did, will let people get to know me, and open the opportunities to make some friends.
In my current condition, being a shy girl, got me thinking everything I was about to do twice before doing so, Patrick’s personality make me realize that in live sometimes you have gotten to let go and just see how it goes, not always, but time to time it is a good thing, and I got from it good results.
In the end the message it let me, among others that can be found is that, in life, we have to be open to change and trust in people and see all that they have to offer, real friends are and invaluable possession, that, will be in your life, in the happy and the bad times, and you have to do so with them. One in life shouldn´t run away from feeling and must have courage to let them take control of what we do and express them and more important express them to the ones we love.
