The element that is central to the theme is its plot line which focused on the concept of love . There were lots romantic comedy films that were released during the 80s, so many that it can arguably be considered as the birth period of romantic comedy films . The Princess Bride, a movie that was released in 1987, was an adventure and romantic comedy film that featured the love story of a farm boy named Westley (i.e. the protagonist) and Buttercup (i.e. the Princess Bride), how they knew each other, got separated, only to be reunited in the end. Because of the relative success of romantic comedy films, a lot of motion picture and film producers bombarded the industry with a lot of such releases over the course of the next two decades.
The main moral value of the film should center on the concept of persistence. Westley, the farm boy, did not give up his love and admiration for princess Buttercup despite the humongous challenges that he encountered along the way. The same can, in fact, be true for his adventure companions (whom he met along his journey) and for princess Buttercup as well. They held on to what they were fighting for until the end and they succeeded.
Now, the film may be perceived as outdated, unentertaining even mainly because of the fact that the cinematographic techniques used during its filming are now obsolete. However, as far as the story and the plotline is concerned, there may still be a handful of people who would be able to appreciate it.
In conclusion, The Princess Bride is a highly engaging movie that highlighted the importance of persistence, and how love can move mountains.
