The quality of communication is good in article two because we can clearly see why Melvin’s has been able to attract and keep customers for a long time. Communication quality is relatively poor in the first and third article. In the first article, there is poor sentence construction leading to some level of communication breakdown. The third article has too much dialogue in between the article creating lack of flow in the story. The writing styles of the three articles are poor. Paragraphing is poor as the paragraphs in all the three articles are too short with some being one sentence long, and uneven in number of words. In the first article, the language is poor with wrong sentence construction which may distort the meaning of the statements. There is also use of shortened words such as ‘cause instead of because which should not be part of written language. In the second article, the sentence construction is good, and the grammar is also correct. The third article also has poor grammar, there is use of short forms of words such as “don’t, we’re” among others and yet these should never make part of written language. However, this article does have sub-headings that are important in guiding the reader through the article.
The entire three articles are relatively readable with the second article being more readable because it is printed in a larger font size and the sentences flow hence it is easier to follow the story line. The other two articles have a smaller font size making them a little hard to read, however presence of sub-headings in the third article increases its readability. I did not like the first article as it just states that the gardener has arthritis, but does not explain how he is fighting it unlike what the title of the article states. The second article is good because it clearly gives us information on what the Melvin’s offer and why they have been able to maintain customer loyalty for over six decades. Finally the third article is relatively long and coupled with the dialogues that are inserted in between the story it may become boring to read, but the sub-headings ease the reading process, however the article communicates how this c community is trying to redeem their heritage.
