Probably, US residents still remember and honor the time of 80s. After all, movies about this time are still popular and will come out in theaters. Even though I have not lived in those days, these pictures allow everyone to find themselves in that wonderful time when rock and roll was at the peak of glory, when both boys and girls had, like it seems to us today, ridiculous haircuts, when high school students spent more time at rock concerts and parties with hot girls and free drinks, than at school. Many many movies try to convey to their audience these facts about the 80s. Debutant Frank Korac decided to show a completely different side of that time, giving us the opportunity to look at the pure love between a man and a woman.
The first thing to understand about the film ’’The Wedding Singer’’, is that it does not tryto show us the crazy life, all this debauchery of the time. No, it's not about that. In the first place, "The Wedding Singer" is a sweet romance, there is not so much comedy, despite the fairly large number of comedic actors involved in the shooting. Sentimentality happening makes us remember more about the cute American love stories straight from the mid-20th century. Plot although is not perceived here as something new or unexpected, still holds the attention. "The Wedding Singer" is a history of musician who tries to get multimillion glory as the most popular rock musicians of his time, eventually playing at weddings songs about love. He suddenly met a woman with whom he just wanted to grow old together. The movie is interesting and made with talent (Pirello, "5 Reasons Why 'The Wedding Singer' Is Still Adam Sandler's Best Movie.").
The final impression brightens up the entire film as a whole. The the creators had more than one good card in the sleeve. The main duo, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Though later and individually their career will wag from masterpieces to purebred pacifiers, together, in the " Wedding singer", both actors showed their best. Barrymore plays a very young girl who seems to came from the mid 50s of XX century, even her outfit in the overwhelming number of cases repeats fancy dress of ladies of that time. And this happens an a background of Van Halen t-shirts with frank cutouts and mini skirts. Sandler plays like he has always played and like he will play - funny and simple guy with a pure soul and a kind heart. What else to say.
This results in a good movie. The authors of which, apparently, were counting on more, but they were not able to realize their ideas. If you want to see the awesome comedy in the spirit with the other main comedy movies, you will not get this. ‘’The Wedding Singer’’ does not look like an average movie with Adam Sandler starring. But if you are looking for excellent melodrama, like the rest of the works with Drew Barrymore, the "The Wedding Singer’’ is perfect to you. Like Adam Sandler's character could not conquer the Olympus of rock 'n' roll, and the creators of the picture did not work hard enough for creating memorable comedy with an unpredictable climax.
I have seen ‘’The Wedding Singer’’ for a few times and every time it creates only positive feelings, and the finale with a surprisingly beautiful composition, where at the background Billy Idol is fighting for the happiness, still remains one of the happiest and moving finals to the movies with romance.
