As the social media platforms are evolving the benefits are replicated in the healthcare industry. Mobile applications in the healthcare industry are becoming more prevalent. It is anticipated that global sales of Smartphones are expected to beat the 1.5 billion mark by 2016. The coming years will see teens and elderly carrying a Smartphone. As a result of the rapid communication and mobile computing, healthcare providers are adopting healthcare mobile applications.
This project details the business plan of a healthcare mobile application. The application has immense benefits to healthcare providers and patients. Smartphones and mobile applications will exponentially be smarter than the way they are today. As a result, they will allow the delivery of information directly to the user, thus, revolutionizing the way patient engage with healthcare system.
Doctors will remain but the information about patient and their health will stream faster and efficiently than ever before. The goal of the project is to ensure that the healthcare system moves from an inbound system to an inbound data.
First access to care will significantly improve. The requirement for patients and doctors to be in the same room will be eliminated thereby eliminating the additional costs associated with visiting healthcare centers. Patient living with chronic disease will live in remote locations but still access doctor’s services. Consequently they will be able to book for appointments and visit only when they are sure to get the physicians and relevant medication. Also, patient engagement will increasingly improve. Many aspects such as long lines, complexity of the processes, lack of transparency, cost and quality which discourage patient will be no more. The application will notify the patient of the number of pills taken and the remaining and if he wants them delivered to their premise or otherwise.
The project will enhance knowledge base and competencies in diverse fields. The project will be carried out in a number of steps involving research, planning, development, implementation, and support. As such handy skills in research, mobile application design and development, programming, deployment and management will be put to use. Therefore, the overall competencies and knowledge base will be improved. Currently, there are numerous projects and application development teams such as Kony which endear to develop healthcare mobile application. This research will be a boost to such advances.
The healthcare industry has been afflicted with a number of issues poor remuneration schemes, fraud and mismanagement. Fraud in healthcare is estimated to be worth more than $60 billion annually. This loss affects the public and governments. The development of the apps will allow Medicare to correlate claims data with location and time data as more intelligent apps are developed to track transactions. The apps will therefore add value to the healthcare system by instilling discipline and recovery of fraudulent activities.
Many patients are tasked with the difficult task of memorizing numerous reports, instructions and names contained in stack of medical papers obtained in hospitals. More disturbing is the fact that they have little memory of what they are supposed to do when they get at home. The mobile apps will streamline processes and activities by presenting the most urgent and important tasks first, thereby, increasing patient safety. Digital healths applications will schedule appointments, tell the patient that the doctor is running late, help monitor medication’s side effects, and help patients follow their health plans efficiently.
