An undercover police are a security officer, who works secretly in order to get information, or catch criminals anywhere and by all means possible. The nature of the work is to work and risking lives in order gain evidence without being identified. They accomplish this by posing as a typical citizen but equipped with equipment or gadgets that can record or gather information used as proof in a court of law. They usually deploy in an area suspected that the law is or may be or has been infringed.
The benefits of undercover; there are several benefits gained from work, and this includes intelligence, prevention and facilitation. Intelligence; they gather information by using a deceptive tactics. The information collected, analyzed in detail and used to trap crooks who try to interfere with the daily activities of the citizens. Prevention; by using the information gathered they can arrest the criminals especially those working dealing with drugs or planning to solicit the unsuspecting citizens. Such crimes have been dealt according by the use of undercover agents like the FBI, who pose as a customer who wants to buy the drugs. Facilitation; the undercover police facilitate the process of trapping criminals by using the informers who gather information and hand over to the officers.
Problems; undercover police undergo issues ranging from the family member to themselves, and it happens when agents identity is known to criminals. The officers become a target as the crooks considers at officers as a hindrance for fulfilling the purpose. Officers suffer physically and psychological due to the negative role they are subjected. Sometimes they are mistaken for criminals especially when they go for a mission in an area where the other police officers are in a particular mission. Loose of evidence and misidentification pose a risk to innocent citizens who may end up on the wrong side of the law.
