The investigated topic is the weight gain among the college students, which, in turn, is caused by the set of the objective reasons - such as life style changes, new eating habits, excess alcohol consumption, changing the place of inhabitance etc. Among the set of related topics, it is possible to outline the following - weight gain because of hormonal changes; obesity because of maturing etc. This particular topic was chosen because of the personal experience of being the college student and availability of corresponding scientific literature on the related subject.
This topic would be investigated while referring to the set of the following questions. The first one pertains to identification of the most effective strategies on excess weight gaining prevention, while identifying the critical periods of the weight gain. Anderson et al (2003) have identified that one of such critical periods is represented by transition from the high school to college and it is caused by the new habits in lifestyle. The central aspect to be investigated in this regard is represented by the major factors, contributing the excess weight.
The second question relates to the options of enhancement awareness regarding the risk of weight gaining among the students. In this case, it is critically essential to identify the most effective options for popularization of such information among the target audience, while taking into account the specific of the age group and their life preferences (Racette 39-42).
The third question refers to assessment of the stabilization period - when the weight, gained at the beginning of college education decreases to its initial indexes by the end of educational period. In this case, it is important to identify the major factors, contributing such changes of the positive nature.
The fourth question to be addressed is represented by the dietary options for minimization of the risk of obesity among the college students. This question should be addressed from the perspective of possible adjustments of the menu, offered to the students in the college canteen.
