Introduction
Describe what you are planning to do?
I am looking forward to an internship in the Finance Department of Qatar University. I am planning to be an intern on a rotational basis. I will be trained in the Projects, Grants and Contracts Accounting Section (PGCA) first. This section includes collaborators and financial report, and operating section. In the operating section, I will get a chance to work in the payroll department and accounts receivable department.
The PGCA section is responsible for the research projects in Qatar that are funded by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). This section is responsible for budgeting, financial reporting and processing of payments.
I am planning to intern in the Financial reporting sub-section in the first week. In the second week, I will work in the Collaborator sub-section and complete 40 hours. In the third week that follows, I will gain experience in the Payroll sub-section and complete the next 40 hours there. In the following two weeks (fourth and fifth), I will receive training in the Accounts payable sub-section. In this section, the accounts executives are responsible for processing payments for awards. The last 40 hours will be spent here, thus completing my 120 hours requirement.
I am excited to enter the internship in order to gain new skills and knowledge. Working in different environments is also going to be a good experience. I will get to meet up with new people and understand the workplace behavior of different individuals. Not only will this internship provide me with work experience but it will also help me to deal with challenging situations.
