The topic of the assignment was online education and its benefits. I chose three articles when I began my research about this topic. One article was from a magazine, “The Atlantic”, one was from a newspaper, “The New York Times” and one was from a journal. My selection of articles helped me shape my opinion about online education because of the diversity of sources in which I found them.
I chose three different sources of information because I wanted to have different ways of thinking and writing included in my analysis. I consulted “The Atlantic” because it offers a wide range of quality articles on various topics and its journalists are well educated. The article contains statistics and objective information about online education. It relies on logos when attracting public approval which is a good way of making a point. “The New York Times” wrote about the change in education because of online education and the article suggests that online education is a positive change. Finally, I consulted “eMatariki Undergraduate Research Journal” where I found information about the situation in Australia. It deals with the impact of online education on Australian universities and this information helped me understand the impact of online education on traditional education. I rejected the sources which came from unreliable sources because I wanted to be well informed about the matter. Online education is changing the educational system and there are many viewpoints to be taken into consideration.
I am satisfied with my selection of sources because I was able to analyze online education in an objective manner which made me learn more about this topic. I managed to write a good summary of the articles because I chose the sources based on their relevance.
