Thesis: What are the impacts that can be resulted by gay marriage? Should gay marriages be legalized? What is your opinion on this type of marriage?
Gay marriage is that marriage where two people who are of the same gender get to marry. This type of marriage has both negative and positive effects on the society’s social landscape. This would happen because gar marriage is seen as immoral and a shame to the society. Most children from broken homes greatly engage in these relationships. This is because their parents are a good example to them that relationships of the opposite sex do not last since they are faced with a lot or hardships and responsibilities.
Colson views gay marriage as societal suicide. He argues that legalizing gay sex marriage very many families getting to collapse, a lot of crimes and many children will be born out of marriage. As a prison minister, he shares what he has experienced. He also uses examples in the real world and statistics to try and show the reason why he is against this type of marriage.
In her essay, Katha Pollit finds nothing wrong with the gay marriages. Her aim in the essay is to let people get convinced that gay marriages are not a mistake. She says that most people are hypocrites. This is because they do not take their marriages seriously yet they condemn those who are gay. According to her, marriage is just a separation of the state and church. Since she sees no problem with gay marriage, she argues that it should be made legal.
In my opinion, this type of marriage should be made legal. This is because these people are actually human beings who have feelings for people who are of the same sex as they are. Making their marriage illegal does not guarantee that they will end their relationships and marry the opposite sex. The gay relationships will always be there though in secrecy. I see no point in people being forced to go for relationships that they completely disapprove of.
Actually gay marriages have both negative ad positive effects. However those who are for these relationships should not give up on them because others are against them. The other marriages also have effects which are negative too. That makes them no different from the gay marriages.
