All the concepts discussed in this class have broadened my vision to address the issues and needs within the organization. The most important thing which I found most interesting during this course was the transition of change and how to manage the change. I would confess that I had no idea of the transition between the managers and leaders. Though I was well aware of the fact that managers and leaders are distinct identities but I always thought that this distinction could not be eliminated at any cost. I would not say that any topic was uninteresting or could not be applied to the organization in reality. I guess each and every topic which has been studied holds its significance for the modern businesses specially the culture within the organizations and the methodology of change. From amongst these, the concept of the significance of employees and the organizational culture is the most critical which needs to be applied in the modern corporate world. I belief the model of change by Kurt Lewin is not only the most easily to apply but also better in applicability; focusing on the three stages of change also involves dealing with resistance of employees (Burnes & Cooke, 2012). All the different soft and hard models in this course are very informative; but I think this is not applicable in the organizations in reality. And for my own business, I find all the other concepts more useful like power, culture, methods of change and the traits of a leader. I have in particular, analyzed my traits and also the required traits which are needed in the business. After analyzing the needs of the modern business world, I analyzed whether I possessed the traits which are needed for the business or not; but my mind has completely been changed now and I have realized that it is not the capital or the traits of the entrepreneur; rather it is the need to understand the lifecycle of the business and to act wisely in accordance with the stages while maintaining a culture which focuses on growth of the business and identifying the need to change on time (Tohidi & Jabbari, 2012). I feel confident that this course has provided me the necessary knowledge and has polished my skills to be applied in my business.
