My experiences for the past two weeks that I have been in Preparedness and Recovery centre have been amazing. While I have been internship for the two week, I have leant a lot of things about the management of the emergencies and more so about the business continuity. This experience is very virtual in that it helps me relate what I leant in the lecture room to what is happening in the field. I can now relate what I leant in the following units: 1013, 4023, 4033, and the course on leadership 4013 with the activities that are conducted here. What I have leant in this experience are that all the units that are offered in the classroom are very important as one day what you leant class will be required to apply in the classroom to the field. In my case, I leant this the hard way since when I was taking 4013 I never used to concentrate instead I used to day dream. I am getting some challenges to apply it in the field. Because I am taking this time to warn those that are behind me from doing the same mistake as I did.
The importance of my internship activities to the development of knowledge, skill and ability
What I can say this internship to me has come to break the monotony of the many theories that we learn in the classroom. Here I do real practical of the things that I have been learning in the lecture room. I have been working in the mitigation plan department for the past two weeks. In this department that deals with coming up with the plans that when they are put in place disaster are reduced I have obtained knowledge and skill. The skills and knowledge obtained from this will help me in the future to mitigate the disaster. It will help me build my career that is in disaster management. Though a little time, I have also gained experience working with the recovery and preparatory centre. I have improved my ability in mitigation of disaster. Though it is not a free ride working here I always feel challenge when I see my work meet doing things perfectly. Through the challenges that I always get they encourage me to sharpen my skill and improve my ability so that I can be competitive when it will come to the job market. I understand more what I learn in the lecture room when I do them practically in the field hence it impact positively in my knowledge.
