The Death Crisis
Death paves the way to several crises. In the criminal justice, crisis is also an indication of the death. The death crisis is increasing, and this increase is continued since 1980. In 1980, the number of deaths increased because of various reasons. These reasons include suicide, murder, violence, substance abuse, poverty, sexual abuse, unemployment, teenage pregnancy single parent families, families having two working parents, and joint families (Steele, and Raider). Suicide is a major cause of death in most of the countries. Majority of people in the developed as well as developing countries commits suicide due to depression. In 1980, suicide was the 10th major cause of the death, and 8th leading cause in people who have age below 12 years (Steele, and Raider).
A lot of people including many minors were murdered in 1980. Further, in 1980, the use of drugs got popular in young people, and most of the young deaths occurred because of the excessive use of drugs and alcohols. In the Unites States, homicide is also regarded as the leading reason of the death in young people (Holinger). Additionally, the minors who were arrested with the intention of murder increased increased in 1980. Most of people were living below the poverty line, which also became a cause of the death crisis. For example, in 1980, about 7 million children of white families, and 4 million children of black families lived below the poverty line in the United State. It is, however, estimated that poor people are 7-8 times more likely to become victim of the child abuse. Further, sexual intercourse is also a reason for the death crisis. The number of the illegitimate births and the deaths of young girls increased while giving birth to babies. The deaths occur because of the complications that occur at the time of pregnancy due to younger age as the girls had sexual intercourse at the age of 19 years. Furthermore, the number of latchkey children having age below 14 years and living alone because their parents were at work, however, increased in the year 1980, which also played its role in the death crisis.
The deaths have badly impacted the development in 1980. According to the World development Report (1982), due to the deaths of young people, the population of old people increased, which slowed down the pace of development. The manufacturing of goods slowed down, industrial development was affected, and exports were affected because difficulty in supply has restricted the expansion of exports of the primary commodities. This condition has affected high-income, middle income, and lower-income countries, which means that the developing as well as developed countries were affected equally because of the increase in the number of deaths in 1980. Further, the countries failed to make appropriate economic and social policies in order to cope with this situation, which further affected their development.
In a nutshell, the major reasons for the death crisis are suicide, poverty, murder, sexual abuse, teenage pregnancy, and families where there are two working parents. These are also the reasons for the death crisis that occur in 1980. These death crises have affected the development in 1980, because the death of younger people resulted in the increase of the old people, which hampers the manufacturing of good, progress of industry, and trade of goods.
