Automobiles, heat from homes and businesses, and factories are responsible for about 80% of today's carbon dioxide emissions, 25% of methane, and 20% of the nitrous oxide emissions ("Global Warming essays," n.d.). In addition, greenhouse gases enter the atmosphere as a result of the industrial and agriculture production, deforestation and land-clearing activities. It becomes hotter, and ice is melting worldwide. The sea level rise becomes faster. The forest fires, droughts, floods and hurricanes have become more frequent and widespread. As a result, many species face the risk of extinction (polar bears, for example). Nevertheless, some climate doubters tend to ignore the threat of global warming. They argue that climate change is naturally occurring phenomenon. However, climate change has not happened on its own. It is clear that emissions of carbon dioxide, whether from power plant or a taxicab, contribute to global warming.
Today, pollution prevention is a global concern. Therefore, the world’s governments try to reduce fossil fuel use by nonpolluting energy sources like wind or solar. The states should adhere to international regulations such as the Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol was a first critical step towards agreement on reductions of the greenhouse gases. Also, the states should adopt higher energy or carbon taxes to reduce energy consumption and begin a transition to
a clean green public transport. Moreover, public awareness campaigns on the issue of global

warming and greenhouse gases are a must. People should understand that the environment can be polluted by products we use (paint, dust, cigarette smoke and insect sprays). It is necessary feel responsibility for protection the environment. Try to use less air conditioning or heat and recycle household waste. The other step is buying locally made and locally grown products to reduce emissions during transportation. Further, save electricity by using compact fluorescent light bulbs. The conscious decision to take these small actions can significantly reduce the greenhouse gases emissions. As a result, massive damages to the environment can be avoided.
