Globalization is here to stay, and yet, the idea about going global is a concept that different sectors in society are having a hard time to comprehend. While globalization both have advantages and disadvantages, understanding the pros and cons will help one get a better grasp whether t is indeed positive, negative, or both. However, taking the middle position regarding the effects of globalization is not a realistic way of approaching the issue. It is either one is for or against globalization. Personally, I am more of an advocate of globalization than a challenger as I recognize the benefits of globalization in a country's cultural, economic, and social makeup.
If a nation wants to become a leader and remain competitive in the global market, then the only solution is to embrace globalization and think of ways on how the country can retain its culture and traditions despite the looming changes that globalization brings. A country cannot view itself in terms of its national identity alone, but also as part of the whole world as well. Therefore, from inward connections and business transactions, a country must begin to open itself to the world. Economies that resist globalization will remain stagnant and could even fail if they opt to do inward business instead of participating in opportunities to trade regionally and internationally. This is because the more a nation trades with other nations, the market for their goods and services increases as well. Exposure to various cultures and traditions also aid in making a nation well-rounded in terms of appreciation, understanding, and acceptance of beliefs other than their own.
If a nation wants to push forward in terms of their economic, cultural, and social make up, then a country has to make a stand whether they will participate in the global market or not. Taking the middle position is what will make a country push-and-pull forward, where instead of making positive decisions that will affect the country, resistance will prevail. Thus, the middle position will only hinder a country's progress instead of pushing it forward.
