Globalization is the procedure of international integration that arises from the exchange of ideas, views, products, culture, among other aspects. Globalization is beyond communication and it involves advances in the sector of transportation that includes steamships, aircrafts, and telecommunication infrastructure, among others (Mayer-Schönberger 136). Basically, globalization refers to the opening of the countries’ borders and the free exchange of capital, goods, and other services across the national borders.
The success of many businesses in the world has always depended on communication skills used. The type of communication skills used in different business contexts has in the recent times depended on globalization and cross-cultural interactions. The whole idea implies that the success of many businesses in the world depends on globalization and cultural issues. Entrepreneurs can no longer afford to share ideas and views within their own homogenous culture. When thinking about business, one should reason beyond the scope of transactions and exchange of goods and services for money. This is because the success of businesses nowadays highly depends on the effectiveness of communication within the business fraternity. Globalization has an impact on each of the above variables. Globalization has played a significant role in communication by introducing virtual communication as part of workplace dynamics. Modern businesspeople ought to appreciate the strengths and restrictions of using various communications medium and how to use each media to its maximum effect (Block 14). For instance, globalization states that if one is to communicate with distance team members via email, then the process requires a degree of etiquette and nuance.
Like the article states, the stretch of globalization across the universe has been given an upper hand by the advancements made in communication technology and information. Communication is known to have played a significant task in ensuring that the world is a global village and globalization would have been a nightmare if communication did not exist. Globalization and communication technology have played a key role in increasing transparency in the world. The article is right on that as it addresses how different administrations can now exchange information (Block 18). One figurative sign of globalization is the availability of multi-national companies across the globes. They include Coca-Coca, McDonalds, and Nike etc are found in many countries across the globe and in different continents. These companies and managed and run in their respective headquarters; which implies that there should be effective communication between the different branches. The impact of globalization and communication technology has also been experienced in the education fraternity. A lot of students can now access information concerning a course they want to pursue on the internet. They now get education certificates from foreign universities through an online education. This has resulted to the enhancement in the education across the globe. There have also been effects of globalization in the banking industry. A lot of banks can now being streamlines through efficient communication channels. The modernization has resulted to the globalization of the banking sector as almost all international banks now have branches in many countries worldwide (Cheney 3). In conclusion, the impacts of globalization in communication are evident and should at all times be embraced as it is bringing development into the world.
