Does God intervene in human life? if yes, provide examples as to how he has and how has that impacted human affairs? If no, how would an intervention from God impact human affairs?
I believe that God does intervene in human life and his interventions can be positive, negative or neutral. I consider any event as God intervention if humans can’t predict it or know the cause behind it.
One example of God intervention in human life can be miracles. Miracles are defined by a surprising and welcome event that isn’t explained by natural or scientific laws (Lawrence, 2011). For instance, when a person starts healing quickly from a severe illness it can be considered a miracle. This is a positive intervention as it brings happiness to a human being.
Another way God intervenes in human affairs is negatively. Natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, etc. are considered acts of God, and can be considered negative acts because they cause human destruction and sadness. We humans don’t exactly know where and when the next earthquake will happen. We just happen to know after the event that the platonic plates have collided in that area. If God willed then those platonic plates wouldn’t have collided.
There are also neutral acts of God interventions. For instance, the annual rainfall can be considered God intervention because humans don’t know when and how much rain will fall in a particular area. We can just predict the rainfall based on past data, but we aren’t actually sure how much rain will exactly fall. This act is a neutral intervention because it can cause happiness or sadness to a human being. For instance, rainfall for a farmer is very important, so he considers it happiness. However, the same rainfall can become a negative intervention if it falls too much and turns into a storm.
