Boston College stands out as a place where multi-disciplinary learning is conducted at a high level and at a rigorous pace. The research opportunities are unparalleled and will enrich my learning. The impressive faculty and unparalleled student body will enable me to critically test ideas and discover new paths of understanding, satisfying my desire to learn in collaboration with like-minded students.
I am a good fit for the Carroll for a variety of reasons. While exploring universities, I learned about research conducted by the various science departments. I hope to leverage the University’s integrated and multidisciplinary approach to education because successful research and development of the field requires a broad understanding of the world.
I would ultimately like to become a professional accountant and practicing accountancy demands rigorous application of specific methods in order to advance the profession. As a student at Carroll, I would be able to explore new horizons in business and potentially help pave the path towards the development of novel technologies by aiding in the solvency of innovative enterprises.
The applied learning methods of the university are of particular interest to me as they provide an environment in which ideas formed and tested in the classroom can be utilized in a practical manner. The TechTrek course would enable me to use this knowledge in the specific field of technology and to consult with the impressive firms located in California and New York. By meeting with the people responsible for producing so much technical advancement, I would be able to truly understand the business problems that they face and develop new solutions to those challenges.
The International Management course would allow me to leverage my experiences in the Chinese business environment for the betterment of a larger global audience, and utilize my experience with China’s economic development to help business throughout the developing world and thus fulfill humanitarian goals as well as potentially discover business opportunities that will be of benefit to clients. Business is much more than just the flow of money insofar as it provides a route to development of economies and societies. However, divorcing the business aspect of development is naïve and unlikely to lead to progress. Further, the International Consulting Project of the University would enable me to again use my experiences in china, combined with the lessons I learn at Carroll for the betterment of business by coming up with novel solutions to ever-present experiments.
Academic challenges must be met with an inquisitive mind hardened by discipline. What I find most appealing about the University is the strong research conducted by the faculties. The breadth of disciplines covered is spectacular. The integration of knowledge provided through the approach employed by Boston College will broaden my academic reach. I hope to learn from Carroll’s impressive faculty and to learn from my fellow, like-minded students, in order to solve vexing international problems. This scholastic discipline will enable me to harness my commitment to scientific research, while building lifelong connections with students and faculty alike.
