I realized I am always ready to help sick people two years ago, when I took care of my nephew at the Calgary Children’s Hospital. He was very ill and at that time, they were some assistant nurses at the hospital. They allowed me to help them take care of sick children. The experience was instantly rewarding and I was fulfilled. I said to myself that when I become a full-pledged nurse, I shall instantly start my profession. It felt like a sort of a vocation or a calling and I realized it instantly.
Being aboriginal, I am drawn to help more people as I see it as a way of empowering them and giving them strength. As a minority, I know how it feels to be deprived and being able to help out in terms of medical and social assistance is really a great avenue to feel being part of the greater humanity. I realized that once I take care of the sick and aid them to be well again, I am bridging them to a greater future. Hence, I decided to pursue nursing.
I was born and raised in Canada. Ever since I was a child, I have always seen myself doing something great and I have a good feeling that this is the starting point of this important life goal. Growing up, I have had my share of life experiences that would later play a vital part on why I am inclined to become a professional nurse. Looking back, it was amazing how the fundamental things like attending to a sick person were able to make us feel more human. My academic life in Canada is not very impressive. However, I do know that my industry and determination will push me through. I was drawn more into the social sciences and I realized a strong desire to be of service to others as an adolescent. At present, I am a student of the High Schools or College. I hope to become a part of the school you are applying for.
When I do qualify for the nursing course, I would love to start right away to become one great nurse. I would like to inspire more people from my community to go back to school. As we all know, not all of us minorities are given the fair chance to pursue our studies and/or interests. With my perseverance and dedication, I would like to inspire my own community that dreams could come true. We could all become skilled and knowledgeable at something we want to do best, beyond our wishes and interests. Even at a young age, I have seen something stronger and more important than the injustice we sometimes personally experience. It is what my people are willing to do for their community. It is want I want to inspire them with.
My long term goal is to upgrade until I qualify to become a nurse. Hence, I am trying to expose myself to opportunities in helping the sick. I intend to expose myself some more with voluntary medical assistance works. This will also hone my nursing skills even before I am formally pursuing my studies and career. Given this one special chance, I will be my best in helping the sick people.
