Paul Graham brings in new understanding of procrastination. The act of procrastination can either be good or bad. The level of procrastination should be measured on the basis of the profits that it is likely to bring forth. Bad procrastination will not allow the individual to attract more benefits. At such a point, an individual leaves the best action for the worst, which ends up unprofitable (Anderson 149). In good procrastination, an individual exchange the bad decision for the most fulfilling action based on profitability.
I am procrastinator C. I believe in achieving the most fulfilling results. I work towards achieving excellence in my life. I like taking big risks which will make think harder and commit my efforts towards the set targets. It is also through vision and commitment towards the goals that make me procrastinate. Procrastinations usually consume time, which could have been used constructively to influence success. In most cases, procrastinations delay success.
In an instance where I was applying for college admission, fear came is an element for failure. I had a chance to apply for an opportunity in the best college in the city. The fear denied me an opportunity of getting to study in the most prestigious college in the city. I did not exploit the many strategies that were at my disposal. I never took time to analyze the situation at the moment. I also wish I had ways to analyze the advantages that would have come out of studying in the college.
Although Barbuto’s argument entails study on the learning habits for students with disabilities, the lessons are unavoidable for any student. The advice touches on the best practices for students, which include being organized. The element of being organized is applicable to everyone in a number of ways. For concentration in class activities, the student needs to be organized on how to undertake certain class activities (Anderson 150). It is also helpful in prioritizing on the most significant things to undertake at a specific time thus avoiding time wastage.
I do not feel like a traditional student following the extensive exposure that I got over students in the class. I am exposed to a lot of things following the responsibilities given to me by my parents. They believe that I can handle all the responsibilities that they assign to me. The experience as a nontraditional student puts me into a better platform than the rest of the students since I believe my success in class is my responsibility. I work hard to achieve the desired excellence.
“Symptoms of Math Anxiety” by Sheila Tobias
Mathematics subject is usually related to complexity. People do not practice mathematics early enough. They do not read on the subject regularly through practice. Also, paranoia, which is an element of guilt and shame, may be a major element to prevent success in mathematics. Fear does not only exist in mathematics but also in other subjects which require calculations. Fear for unknown elements in a subject is very common following the involved complexities (Anderson 151).
Although the argument that mathematics is inborn is common among mathematics scholars, I would argue the opposite that success in mathematics results from hard work. Through, I have not been involved in instances where hard work exists as a virtue to success; I would add that discipline in studies brings extensive excellence that would be necessary for influencing exemplary performance. Discipline comes with focus on the goals and being ready to follow the outlined steps towards the needed excellence.
