An article is defined as a collection of written aspects that talk about a particular topic, and are written in a newspaper or magazine. The written aspects are not fiction. Focus on the recent business article about charges pressed by Apple Company when they claimed that Samsung duplicated their phones. The concept of this article is about consequences that a company endures when they try to outweigh their competitor by copying their products. It also throws a lesson to other companies to be innovative rather than depending on other company’s innovations (Daniels 72). The summary of the article is as follows:
This judgment follows a claim by Samsung to owe Apple $1.05bn for infringement whereby apple claimed that some of Samsung devices have copied apples technology. However there was a retrial because it was found out that there was a miscalculation on the amount that Samsung owed Apple and hence Samsung have to appeal. Apple claims that the judgment is not about money but about stolen innovation and the efforts geared towards coming up with products that are appealing to the customers. It is therefore a lesson to Samsung that there is no price tag attached to the value of innovation. This case has left Samsung owing apple approximately $930m, therefore raising the shares of the apple.
Samsung on the other hand argued that Apple does not own the technology of innovating “beautiful and sexy” type of devices that have rectangle shape which makes it attractive to most customers and claimed to owe apple only $52m. There is an upcoming trial to investigate if it is true that the current devices from Samsung are a result of apple innovation and technology. Apple has furthermore considered banning the sales of Samsung older devices that resulted from Apple’s innovation.
The question is;
- Will there be a decrease in the supply of Samsung devices due to the scandal about copied technology?
- If apple company happens to ban sales on older devices from Samsung that are claimed to be copied, will it affect the current customers who posses Samsung devices?
