1. Benefits of Nanotechnology
More than 20 years of nanoscience research finds that the nanotechnology is coming with both expected and unexpected benefits. Nanotechnology is helping to improve in many revolutions, especially in technology and industry sectors. The success of the nanotechnology depends on the fact that the material can be structured in the nanoscale. Using nanotechnology, the materials can be made stronger, lighter, and more durable. The nanotechnology is used in baseball bats, solar panels, motorcycle, luggage, and power tools. The nanotechnology designs the products in nanoscale. The nanotechnology is being implemented in various technologies. Nanotechnology is already used in much computing, communication, and other electronics applications to provide a portable system. Nanoscale transistor is the most powerful device. Other computing and electronics products include flash memory, solar panels, etc. Incorporating the nanotechnology in the solar panel is more efficient than the standard design. The nanotechnology can improve the service life of any products. The nanotechnology is in a development phase the development of nanotechnology depends on the various factors, one of the important factor affecting the development of nanotechnology is cost. The cost influences nanotechnology while designing the structure in the nanoscale. Nanotechnology is improving the fuel production efficiency from the normal to low grade fuel. Nanotechnology could meet the clean drinking water through low cost detection of impurities. Nano- Engineering is used in steel design, concrete and other materials. Nanoscale sensors are the device may provide the cost effective 24/7 monitoring technology. Nanotechnology sensors are used to identify the harmful chemicals, biological agents, air, soil, etc. The researchers around the world are investigating the carbon nanotubes to separate carbon dioxide from the power plant exhaust.
2. Negative Consequences of Nanotechnology
The research says the exposure to the nanomaterials leads to the adverse effects to hearts, lungs, and skin. The challenge understood the potential human health risk. There are many manufactured nanomaterials commercially available. The same type of nanomaterials used in several different processes. Nanomaterials may enter into the body in many routes because of their small size. Nanoparticles can generate local toxic effects. The nanoparticles can easily mix with the outer atmosphere, which will affect the human health. The nanoparticles may cause cancer. There are lots of health dangers of dealing with the nanoparticles. There is the possibility of military application in the nanotechnology. The nanotechnology is used to develop the chemical weapons because they can able to develop the chemical weapons from the atom scale. The nanotechnology is the new concept. The nanotechnology can mix with the air. The nanotechnology can pass away with the food chain. Thresholds need to be found, and it is vital to find the nanomaterials in the food chain. These are one of the biggest drawbacks of nanotechnology. The nanotechnology social justice concerns are frequently raised the claim that the nanotechnology is not an evenly distributed system. The developing countries find it difficult for funding the nanotechnology research. There is some danger associated with the nanotechnology, like robots are going to rule the entire world in a future. The nanotechnology will go to help the design of the robot. The atomic weapons are accessible, more powerful, and more destructive. Nanotechnology is the expensive in developing countries, and it can cost lots of money for the research and development. Current research suggests that some engineered nanomaterials are very toxic, which may cause cancer.
3. Better Idea for the Consequences of the Nanotechnology in Future
The research and development in the environmental applications are still working in the relatively narrow area. The nonmaterial’s has the lots of benefits in the environmental fields than in the other fields. In future, the nanotechnology has promised to develop the technology to improve our environment. Nanotechnology is applied to both the ends of the environmental spectrum, which can work without affecting the environment. The major problem faced by the people while using the nanomaterials is pollution; it is necessary to design the pollution free nanomaterials. The Science to Archive Results (STAR) program is conducted by U.S environmental protection agency. In 2001, the agency has devoted a small portion of the funding. The contaminated soil and the ground water is the most prominent in the legacy issues. The nanomaterials have the large portion of the surface atoms. The nanoparticles are mostly designed to improve the surface area. The high surface activity can potentially be helpful in making out the materials. The surface area also allows a fast reaction and activity. The current focus is to develop a device that can function not only as a treatment device, but also as a sensor used for detection functions. The nano based lightning is already been implemented in the real time traffic lights across the country. The nanotechnology is often described as an emerging technology. It to only hold promise for the society, but also it can solve the common problems. The value of nanomaterials has the advantages in the technology area. Investments in the nanotechnology are also growing steadily, and nonmaterials are being used commercially.
