Question 1
In the article What Is Internalized Racial Oppression And Why Don’t We Study It? Acknowledging Racism’s Hidden Injuries written by Karen D. Pyke, it becomes clear that internalized racism is neglected by society and it remains misunderstood. It is a factor that has led to racial inequality and if that taboo is defied then zoology will succeed in exposing the effects of racism. Internalized white racism affects all the other races that are deemed inferior and this affects every facet of life majorly on the social lives of many people. The author bases her argument on the responses given by persons she interviewed. But the one thing that I do not understand is why there is racial self hatred and why it is carried out. perhaps the question one should be asking is why people still hold on to promoting the ideology of the subordinate group as superior even in this era when that should not be the case
Question 2
Based on my experience and feelings, I believe the theoretical analyses used in the argument presented do explain the simple little things that promote internalized racism. There are several factors that contribute to the racism and they are beyond society. In as much as society tries to change them, it is difficult to ignore the historical factors that brought the racism issue no matter how long it takes. In the article, the author tries as much as possible to elaborate how whites and blacks propagate racism. It has taken all the groups involved to propel the notion. The facts presented show how lacking a sociological perspective fails to present a window through which internalized racism can be addressed.
