Good Black (African American) Essay Example

Before the Brown Decision in 1954, the discrimination against Black Americans was quite evident. Even though the declaration of independence stated that all men are equal, Black Americans were treated differently compared to the Whites. In fact, there were laws that were passed that provide the segregation of races. As a result, Blacks and Whites were not allowed to use the same facilities such as public schools and transports. The social status was changed as well as the negative treatment against Black Americans after Brown Decision.
The everyday life of African-Americans may have been challenging as the public has been divided according to their race and color. Being identified as an African-American may have hindered their daily plans from traveling to work, using public facilities, and even sending their children to school. Before the Brown Decision in 1954, the distinction between White Americans and African-Americans was one of the major issues in many states. The segregated policies may have given the African-Americans the complexity of life. Segregated restaurants, interstate travels, and even hotels could have been adding more pressures between races. Thus, social justice may have been one of the major problems of the African Americans during that period. Also, many African-Americans may have experienced violence against their race.
There were many changes after the Brown Decision such as the passing of various federal statutes that prohibit discrimination against gender, race, and immigration status. Societies became more open, and race segregation was abandoned and outlawed. The people thus lived embedded in the Constitution’s spirit, which all people can live equal in the eyes of God. It improved many of the African-Americans’ lives in terms of attending to their daily functions without the presence of discrimination and disparity.
