The Friday that follows the day of the Thanksgiving, specifically known as the Black Friday is not an official holiday in the United States; however, the Americans view it as a celebration and tradition as they get to avail the door buster deals with extreme discounts. Over the years, retailers and marketers shaped the expectations of the shoppers and stimulated word of mouth by offering deep discounts on desirable gift items. The significance of Black Friday is that around 25 percent of the Americans arrive at the stores midnight or earlier. Due to special pricing, braving lines and crowds, the customers arrive early at the stores so that they don’t miss the amazing deals and discounts. Millions of other customers log into the retail websites through their computers, smartphones or tablets to shop their favorite electronics and goods. Media coverage magnified the focus of Black Friday in terms of social media, billboards, print ads, commercials, radio and television showcase the importance of the day.
The most important participating stores of Black Friday are Walmart and Amazon through which the customers expect to save big on electronics, toys, clothing, kitchen appliances and many others. In terms of the economy of the United States, Black Friday earned about 20 percent of the economy; however, due to economic slowdown, recession and frequent discounts all round the year, the craze of Black Friday dropped down drastically over the recent years. There are several incidents on Black Friday every year in terms of violence, long queues and complaints from the shoppers regarding the unavailability of the desired items. Many employees complain that the companies fire several workers or cut down their pay in order to compensate the losses they incur on this occasion. The Black Friday would be amazing if it was for one day; however, the sales that follow the days after the major day reduced the importance of the day.
