Chapter summary of ‘The Phantom of the Opera’
Chapter 1 - It begins in the past at the Opera during a party.. Joseph Buquet tells a credible account of a ghost and later found dead. This sends fear to the entire group into fear.
Chapter 2 - Raoul de Chagny, Comte de Chagny and also his brother are introduced. Due to Carlotta unexused absence, Christine Daae made her debut as a singer at the Opera.
Chapter 3 – The ghost of Opera appears.
Chapter 4 - M. Moncharmin and M. Firmin do not believe in the existence of the Opera ghost even after the ghost sends a letter to them.
Chapter 5 – This chapter allows the reader into Christine Daae’s life and the history behind her relationship with Raoul de Chagny.
Chapter 6 – New managers investigates the box five.
Chapter 7 – Here the Phantom declares war through a letter to the managers, but offers a truce.
Chapter 8 – Christine Daae disappears after the chandelier collapses.
Chapter 9 – Here there is an annual masquerade at the Opera where Christine disappears again.
Chapter 10 – Christine reappears and declines to say anything to Raoul.
Chapter 11 - As much as Christine loved Raoul, in this chapter, she declines to depart with him for a month in the North Pole.
Chapter 12 – The fiancées go on top of the Opera building to be far from Erik as possible
Chapter 13 – Christine notices the gold ring from Erik missing from her finger and is afraid that Erik may have heard her conversation with Raoul and later she disappears for good.
Chapter 14 – In this chapter, the managers refuse to talk to anyone and lock themselves in office and strangely only want a safety pin.
Chapter 15 – Raoul goes to a Persian who agrees and invites him to go and save Christine
Chapter 16 – Mme. Giry’s Astounding Revelations as to Her Personal Relations with the Opera Ghost and is accused of stealing 20 thousand francs.
Chapter 17 –Phantom gets his allowance place in M. Firmin’s pocket.
Chapter 18 – Raoul is sent for his brother by the commissary of the due to the fact that Comte’s carriage left in a hurry though this was not proved.
Chapter 19 – The Persian informs Raoul how Erik managed to whisk Christine away.
Chapter 20 – The Persian and Raoul locate at the cellar, a door to Erik’s lake house leading them to a Torture Chamber.
Chapter 21-We come to know how the Persian is knowledgeable of Erik and his tricks.
Chapter 22 -Erik tells Christine of her love to him and that, they must choose on a requiem or wedding mass then leaves the room.
Chapter 23-Erik is angered by Christine who tried to help the 2.
Chapter 24-The Persian explains his idea of the torture chamber designed by Erik for the sultana in the Mazenderan rosy days.
Chapter 25- Christine has 2 choices, either to die with Erick (and entire Opera) or marry the Phantom. She chooses to turn the scorpion and water starts to fill the room.
Chapter 26 depicts the ending of the ghost’s love story where Comte de Chagny is found dead near the shore lived by Opera ghost.
