The main goals that Carrie’s group needed to focus on in order to make their presentation a success ought to have included elements like clarity, which involves the ability to employ the virtue of being clear on purpose, style and thought. Clarity on purpose entails the group’s desired outcome which in this case was to do the best presentation that could earn them a good grade as per what Carrie and Stu says. This could easily be achieved by creating a charter statement and a thesis which will ensure that the members do not overlap.
Clarity of roles is based on the personality of the members which in any case can be jeopardized by the lack of cooperation from some of the group members such as Manny and Frieda. Clarity of the message involves the writing of the whole masterpiece as one and deciding on who speaks up to what end then who takes over next. This was going to ensure a smooth flow of the ideas within the group during the presentation. The other parts that they could have considered include commitment on each member of the group and how they were going to control the whole presentation for it not to have any fuss at the end.
The members could be assigned different roles ranging from the time keeping, keeping of the notes of all the meetings and ensuring that everybody has a fair say. The other role could be that of the lead organizer essentially involving overseeing tasks are equally distributive to the group members and that the deadlines are met. The third person could have been the artistic director who could help in creativity, that is, in the context of the presentation while the fourth person could be the title specialist who would give any information required on the subject by the group members. The last person could be fixed in during the presentation.
For such to be a success, it was wise for everybody to do a lot of research on the subject matter before they met and each person to give what they had done before they could bring the pieces together to make the best. Everybody should have been present to decide on the best way to do the presentation and during the rehearsal ensure that every aspect of it was correct.
