The resume presented is effective because it had the necessary information needed for a good resume. Included in it are the applicant’s name and contact number, his education and his past job experiences. It is good that the employment section had descriptions of each job the applicant did. The job objective was also clearly stated. The format also follows the standard format for resumes – professional and direct to the point – although the applicant should probably be careful with his line spacing because some had spaces in between descriptions and some did not. The spacing should be uniform. Aside from the problem with the line space, the applicant should also probably add the address of the school he went to as well as the degree he took up there so that the employer could contact the school and verify some information. The applicant should also add a skills section and an interest section.
The application letter is effective because it matches the reader’s needs without being dishonest and is done in a professional-looking manner. It is good that the applicant had already stated his purpose for writing in the introductory paragraph. This will help the employer because it is a waste of time to read a letter that beats around the bush. The letter is also made effective by the references to the resume as well as to the conduct details of the applicant. It is also good that the applicant stated that he wanted an interview at the time and date that is convenient to the company. To improve the letter, the applicant should probably just include details that are relevant to the kind of work that the company he is applying to needs. For example, he shouldn’t write all of his past job experience and describe each of them because those are probably already in his resume that is attached to the application letter and that would be redundant.
