Introduction
Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid has been praised for his flawless and effective leadership techniques. As a leader in the country that is suffering from economic as well as environmental struggles, he managed to build a modern city that has impeccable infrastructure (Langton, 2016). Not only millions of tourists are now flooding the City of Dubai, but its own population has expanded significantly as well. While Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid is proud of his achievements, he remains modest about his leadership style. Therefore, the current paper will discuss the leadership style of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid based on the article from The National UAE newspaper, and determine the possible future direction of Dubai and UAE in general based on his leadership. Afterwards, appropriate conclusions will be made about the leadership techniques of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid.
When it comes to the relationship that should be maintained between leaders and followers in such a cultural and religious setting, the main responsibility of the leader is carrying accountability for his teams. When Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid leads, he adapts to his followers, watches them carefully and carries responsibility for their actions. It means that he has to show them how they should (not) behave. Therefore, such leaders as Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid are emotionally intelligent, accountable for their as well as their followers’ activities, authentic, self-aware, humble, empathetic, and flexible (Mind Tools Editorial Team, 2016).
The next point of discussion is the future direction of Dubai and UAE under Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid as a leader. His technological as well as global awareness make him an adept person to establish a future direction for the whole country. Even as a member of the Arab world, he embraces social media as a communication platform. His goal of making Dubai the Arab world’s first Smart City (Langton, 2016) is extremely likely to experience success. The main reason for the abovementioned statement is the fact that Mohammed Bin Rashid is guided by the “people’s love for him” (Al Maktoum, 2015). As long as his people are happy, his work has not been in vain.
Based on the abovementioned information and the facts presented by The National UAE newspaper, UAE will remain a safe haven for people who care about each other and consider each other brother and sister. Religious and cultural considerations of Arabs are important for them, and it is important for the leader to nurture them. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid has been successful in accomplishing this task, which means that he will remain a successful cultural and religious leader in the future years to come as well. His ability to combine modernity and history will produce positive outcomes for Dubai as an Arab state in particular. It should be acknowledged that the pace of Dubai’s development has been speedy, which means that it will probably decline in the future years. However, under Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid the progress will be constant, because he is dedicated to his followers and takes pride in their achievements.
All things considered, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid has attained much technological progress for the City of Dubai and UAE in general. His ability to combine religious and cultural considerations with innovative thinking is striking. He is a truly effective transformational and emotionally intelligent leader. He never stops growing professionally, but at the same time remains loyal to his principles as an Arab citizen. Under his leadership, not only the state of Dubai, but the whole country is likely to benefit as well. Due to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s high moral standards, his followers are accountable for their own action, too. No matter how much technological progress the state has achieved, religious concerns remain at the forefront of the social life. Because of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid’s morality and innovativeness, both the state of Dubai and the whole country will keep on progressing. Such leaders as Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid are historic figures and their work is significant. Through examples and compassion, they strive to do what is best for those around them. They sacrifice their own time and energy and they foresee the behavior as well as actions of their followers. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid has taught his people to behave independently and for the benefit of others. He embraces the concept of brotherhood and community, which are so important for the Arab society. He has managed to get his people together and lead them out of poverty, which proves again that more great changes under his leadership are to come.
