Chip Mazey is a vice president of the group. During a meeting with him, in a working situation or social meeting, I would pinpoint a number of issues that we feel the officer needs to work on. A particular aspect that the manager needs to work on would be on how he relates with his employees. Respect for employees is a trait that is missing in Chip’s style of administration. Chip's style of administration started right after he was promoted to the vice president's position and his ego took a grip on him. The manager is so full of himself that he continually brags about his position in the company and refers to his juniors as just ‘you’ and not by their names. The arrogance leads to loss of motivation. Failure to admit his wrongs and to blame them on others also is an indication that he has no respect for his juniors. The theory and practice that I would recommend to Chip to help him in controlling and overcoming this trait would be to learn and appreciate the work of his juniors. Being less of a perfectionist is also a practice that Chip can adopt so as to deal with his arrogance and lack of respect for his juniors. In equal measure, change of attitude towards the employees will be helpful to him when dealing with his coworkers. In a nutshell, if Chip Mazey can control the bravado increase which arose after the promotion, many problems in the organization would come to an end. Maxwell laws of leadership could apply in Chip’s current state. Under the law of addition, Maxwell explains that the value added by leaders is through service to others. Nevertheless, Chip is only interested in advancing himself to better positions by appearing good to the management. He changes his approach when dealing with his employees. He ought to realize that the moment he adds value to those under him, he too will increase in value. Maxwell law of solid ground is also applicable in the case of Chip. This law explains that the foundation of any form of leadership is the trust. When a leader trusts their subordinates with work, his character is also enhanced and boosted. Chip’s character has to be consistent so as to win over his employees even when his business strategies change. The law of respect is also an important guideline in correcting the behavior of Chip. This law explains that naturally, people trail behind leaders who are stronger than them . For the trail to happen, leaders have to respect their juniors as well as adding value to them. If Chip embraces these three laws of leadership, his leadership style and management strategy will increase.
In order to improve their work environments, the team that works under Chip needs to do a series of things. They will need to understand the personality traits of their boss. Being an arrogant boss, each member of staff will need to have their roles clear cut. Clear employee roles will minimize the constant collision with their bosses and help them in their work situations. Communication and discussion of the issues with their boss is also an issue resolving technique that helps them live better among themselves. More specifically, staff meetings and regular communication between the employees and the boss, Chip, will help them improve their performance level, boost their level of influence in the company as well as gain power without Chip, the boss, feeling threatened. The effects are because common voices are stronger together when raising concerns than individual voices.
