Controversy Regarding Childhood Immunization
It is observed in the study of Edelman, Mandle, & Kudzma (2014) that there are many controversies associated with childhood immunization as many parents tend to believe that the process of immunization will make their children’s immune system weaker or infected. Many parents feel that the immunization process is unaffordable due to which they do not go to medical centers for vaccination and immunization.
On the other hand, many parents also fear that the immunization process can be painful for their children, so they tend to ignore this process. Another controversy that is attached with childhood immunization is that many parents with traditional background who don’t believe in the new scientific developments consider immunization procedure as unethical. They feel that immunization is against their family rituals and if they will go for vaccination or immunization then their children will become ill.
Potential Effect on Community Health
Childhood Immunization is a process based on medication to protect young children and infants from getting affected by diseases. It is an observable fact that childhood immunization course has been introduced for infants and toddlers as they are expected to catch life-threatening diseases due to the weaker immune system.
Childhood immunization has a positive impact on health community as it has been developed to prevent diseases in children. It gives strength to the immune system of the body. However, when the parents do not vaccinate their child, then those children are expected to catch many life-threatening diseases. Many cases have been reported where children’s die due to their weaker immune system as their parents never thought of vaccinating their children. For this reason, it becomes evident that the immunization process helps children in growing and nourishing healthily and securely.
Another potential effect that these controversies have on the health community is that many medical practitioners have started a campaign to give awareness to parents about the importance of immunization course for child development.
