Introduction: Civil engineering and associated careers
Every domain in the engineering world addresses a solution towards a specific issue/need of society and it furnishes the engineered items which aid to safe and better living standards for all. Each academic discipline in engineering studies and its overlap with that of the desired career prospect for a student together in his/her decision to finalize that stream as his/her major. decide how a particular stream of engineering has to be chosen as an academic discipline. For example, students who find computer science and associated applications to be more of their interest choose Computer Science Engineering or Information Technology as their major. Those who choose Civil engineering as their major have further career prospects in various sub-domains of civil engineering like construction engineering, architectural design, environmental engineering, structural engineering, surveying, etc. Across all the above-stated sub domains, there is a persistent scope of job opportunities in both, the developing and developed countries, for various Civil engineers who get placed in both, government and private organizations. Developed countries like Britain are specially active in promotive government sponsored huge infrastructure projects and aim to lead the Internal Civil Engineering horizon in the 21st century (Harris 1).
Design activity and Civil engineering
The recent class on designing activity performed in the cast involved some vital concepts of designing and planning the resultant product which are ver basics of any Civil Engineering based project. Every Civil engineering related study requires implementation of some basic design-related concepts. These design implementations come in the form of various subclassifications for application of Civil engineering. For example, the layout and scheme design for laying the base work of a building require extensive knowledge of architectural designing. Similarly, knowledge of structural designing helps in planning for shape, size and load bearing capacities of various supporting elements of a building like pillars and beams. Hence, it can be concluded that all of the careers in Civil engineering require a mandatory command over the designing skills.
Projects related to Civil Engineering
The Civil engineering projects which are on the verge of transforming the international scenario are those of 1.7 miles long Queensferry Crossing Bridge in the UK and 100-year long railway project between Edinburg and Tweedbank which is the largest railway project in the world (Harris 1). As far as the Civil Engineering related projects and career options are concerned, the government-run infrastructure projects stand as the largest career prospects for Civil Engineers. Developed countries like UK have an immense scope of Civil Engineers to work as interns for almost various segments of government authorized infrastructure projects like Flyover construction, Freeway development, Power Plant and Dam building projects, etc (Harris 1). Even fresh civil engineers have ample career prospects to avail their primary knowledge about real-time applications regarding various theoretical concepts learned via these projects. Apart from the government-run projects, the private level firms, and real estate developers also require Civil engineers for their various construction and infrastructure development plans.
My perception for Interesting aspects of Civil Engineering
Although Civil Engineering is not a major for me, still my inclinations and likings were always fascinated by the visual appeal projected from the humungous construction wonders in the World. The examples like Twin Towers, Burj-Al-Arab, Empire State Building, Sea colonies, etc. have caught always thought and read about their significant features which made them different from others. I have been fascinated by the way some of the world’s most renowned building and monuments like Taj Mahal (India) are standing tall due to their excellent design features and constructional excellence from architects of those times. All the above-stated aspects make Civil Engineering as a very interesting category among all the other types of engineering disciplines.
