The cover of the February 2014 edition of Vanity Fair was a real head turner for me. It featured the Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon flanked by two bikini clad ladies. This cover stood out from the humdrum crowd of magazine covers peppered with words and some male or female model looming large. This basic template is also followed by Vanity Fair but nonetheless it is attractive especially to the metro-sexual and the chic and happening crowd. What makes it attractive to this hip crowd is the mention of Jimmy Fallon along with the promise of discussing the really attractive topic of the ever popular Tonight Show returning back to its New York City roots.
Another magazine cover that stood out for me was that of the Country magazine. A picture speaks more than a thousand words is a well known saying and this holds true for this magazine cover. The arresting photograph of a light house standing alongside an old style mansion taken from far showing the oncoming waters amidst coastal outcrop of sparse greenery in the foreground augurs well for the intended audience of this magazine i.e. those who love the country side to the hilt.
The cover of the Another Man magazine was simply arresting. It really does justice to a magazine that highlights high impact fashion photography as well as art and music. The cover features a photograph of King Krule dressed in a light blue tuxedo suit with an over-sized bow tie and dress shirt. The photograph taken by Willy Vanderperee is set in a plain white background with nothing but King Krule in focus and is a delight to any connoisseur of high art.
