In 1800s slavery is rampant in the Southern states of America. At the time, African Americans belong to the lowest class in the society. The White population considers black people as slaves or workers. People like them are working without any salary and at the same time their complaints are not entertained because they are just slaves and are deprived of their rights as human beings. This unjust way of treating people as animal workers was common during the days. African Americans are under a bondage, which disallowed them to refuse from working and following their owner’s rules and commands.
In order to alleviate their conditions, slaves are doing various forms of resistance such as acting like they are sick or they destroy tools in the plantation so that they may have rest for a day or two. Sometimes, they also steal foods from their owners.
If I was one of the African Americans who suffer the asebellum slavery, I would conspire with all other slaves to ignite the whole plantation with fire. Though it would leave us nothing to work for, it would definitely give us some time to rest. However, I would encourage everyone to do this discreetly. And in order to avoid the owners from suspecting us, I would volunteer to lead the whole population of slaves to do a restorative effort on the plantations so that we will gain their trust and they might serve our interests such as food and proper shelter. As soon as the superiors have already established trust on the slaves, it would be easier for the whole slave population to carry out a massive escape from the plantation and travel towards the Northern states where slavery is less common. It would be possible considering that they would least expect that such situation might take place.
