Communication is a very important life skill in business today. Written communication is a form of communication that uses written words or symbols to communicate between individuals or groups. It is a common type of communication in business today for providing record purposes, in legal issues, used for clarity purposes (pictures, authority, etc) and as a form of reference ((Beebe 8). Written communication is therefore more formal compared to verbal communication. Through written communication it is easier for business parties to understand the other party’s verdict .Once documented, written communication cannot be denied.
For a strong market competition, it’s advisable to compare a company data in regard to customer's satisfaction with its competitors by conducting survey that involves customer's demands (Beebe 5). Customers rely on written verdict more than verbal communication and with advancement in technology today, emails plays a crucial role in business. It means a lot to the development of a company’s market niche when such a company takes time to respond to customers emails instantly. Technology has enabled business today extract and keep customer's past experience, and bring positive revolutions in future projects. Written communication enable to respond to customer's feedback via email, letter or fax etc.
Technology has allowed more effective written communication in both quality and quantity. Using word processing software to write provides more benefits in comparison to hand written documents. First, it is faster to use word processing than hand writing. The program also has more advanced features that enable corrections of errors and editing your document on the computer. While writing Microsoft Word automatically corrects minor spelling errors and capitalizes words for you. Spell check helps immensely to correct misspelled words and wrongly fragmented sentences. Grammar, punctuation marks, moving sentences and paragraphs are some of the features in word that you can use (Barnlund 34).
Customer satisfaction via written communication is of utmost importance to any organization involved in any kind of business in an industry related to direct customer sales and service (Robbins et al. 65). Written communication is essential for providing customer satisfaction, know the customer's psyche, trend and behavior and also for conveying policies and procedures of the company that relates to customer. Ethical communication and well written documents plays a pivotal role in boosting business for the company. Technology provides the ability to draft and send more quality written documents to the other party in real time basis.
