Dear Hiring Manager,
I am contacting you regarding the Cultural Geography Analyst position with the Engility Corporation. In addition to over 10 years of GIS experience, I have a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of California, Berkley. I have been working for many years in the private sector and I believe my unique skills and experience in Human and specifically Cultural Geography will prove to be an invaluable asset to your department.
In addition to my Bachelor’s in Geography, I also obtained a BA in Cultural Studies from George Mason University. While studying Cultural Geography, I studied and wrote about many current areas of discussion including research work on feminism, Marxism, Westernization and Islamization as it relates to a certain region. In addition to school work, I have also done extensive researching and writing throughout the years at a professional level, including having several articles published in prominent journals like Area and Cultural Geographies. I am more than well-able to conduct the research, write the reports and make the recommendations required for this position.
I am certified as a GIS professional (GISP) through the GIS Certification Institute and have utilized GIS on the job for over a decade. As a former Human Geographer Regional Analyst, I have used GIS, AutoCad and other software to compile and analyze geographical data utilized by high-level government officials.
Because my former employer also had previously held government contracts, I already have the security clearance required for this position. I am also fluent in Farsi, Egyptian Arabic and French, which I believe will be a vital tool when interviewing and surveying diverse populations, as this position requires.
I would love to meet with you to discuss how my qualification can best meet the needs of your department. Thank you in advance for time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
