The oceans are in the danger of acidification. Oceanic acidification means a decrease in the level pf PH of the ocean water which is associated with the increase of the carbon (IV) dioxide in the atmosphere. The chemistry of seawater refers to when the ion level gradually changes due to the increase in human activities which release the carbon dioxide. Among these sources are the agricultural activities using chemicals, and the industrial activities where the industries emit carbon these acidic gases. The activity of overfishing is changing the world generally and what we eat. Fishing activity is destroyed by the modern methods of fishing adopted in different parts of the country. According to the clip, the demand for the fish consumption worldwide is unsustainable. The clip gives many recommendations about the adoption of responsible fishing in our oceans. Oceanic acidification and overfishing is affecting many economies especially for the countries that aquaculture is a key source of income (Nrdc.org).
The crawfish aquaculture is crucial income source in South Africa. It is however on the decline due to acidification and overfishing. The Natural Resources Defense Council has explained how they can measure the acidity of the oceanic water and various adverse effects it has to the sea life. South Africa is not spared too because of the industrial activities in the country which contribute to the release of carbon dioxide. This is the main reason behind the reduction of the fish count in the seas. Again, the methods of fishing used nowadays are not friendly and are contributing to the decline of crawfish aquaculture in South Africa. The government should implement enactments to control the fishing activities in South Africa.
