Audience
This document provides home managers with the proper illustration, description and procedure for ensuring efficient house dusting.
Materials
Selection of dusting materials may not be easy. This is true because some products or materials can damage the furniture pieces instead of cleaning them. Other dusting products can dust the air. Therefore, it is important to use good materials such as microfiber cloths, ceiling duster, compressed air among others.
Windows and mirrors
Windows are made of fragile glass. This can easily break if handling is not done carefully. The process of cleaning must be carried out gently and carefully to avoid breakage of the glass. It is important to note that not all materials can be employed in wiping windows and mirrors. Proper selection of wiping materials is necessary for that matter. Wiping glass with a dry piece of cloth is totally not advisable. This is because rubbing dry cloth on the glass creates charges that attract dust.
Procedure
The following are steps for proper dusting of windows and mirrors
1. Put some water in the trough. Water to be used must be clean
2. Add the detergent to the water. Stir thoroughly to ensure uniform distribution and proper mixing of detergent. The detergent helps to remove stains
3. Wet a dry clean microfiber cloth by dipping it into the water
4. Squeeze the wet cloth between your fingers to remove some water and leave the cloth slightly moist
5. Wipe the window panes using the moist cloth
6. Rinse the wiping cloth momentarily and dry the window panes gently.
N/B:

1. Put on protective clothing that ensures you do not inhale the dust particles
2. Cover hands in gloves. This minimizes cuts in case of glass fractures
3. When using chemicals such as vinegar, ensure that they do not get contact with your body especially the eyes, nose or mouth
4. Ensure that the ladder to be used during wiping top windows is firmly anchored to avoid falling down
