What I think about the workshop?
I think the workshop is effective for the students with Autism as it helps them to concentrate on other things other than the school work. Their inability to have proper co-ordination like other children is improved through the instructions and rules of the Yoga workshops. It is helping them learn more in life and feel relaxed outside their classrooms and books. It is also helping them be confident in themselves by assuring them that they can do other activities that other normal children do, which is good for their self-esteem. The workshop is also important for them as they are taught how to relieve their stress. Since they face difficulties in co-ordination and even intellectually, sometimes if gives them stress and they end up feeling down and not worth. The techniques that they are taught in the workshop are good for them as they learn new ways of getting all the stress from their systems and help them to be more productive, and happy for that matter. The positive response that Sarah Suero, the instructor, got from the students on having another session means that they enjoyed it and feel that it is good for them.
What can be improved?
I think everything in the room was in good order and the students were treated well. The lesson was productive for the students and they enjoyed, no improvement is needed.
What change should be taken?
I think one of the changes that should be taken is ensuring that in some of these Yoga lessons, the Autism children are allowed to mingle with the normal children; or better still, they can attend the lessons together. This will help in boosting their character as they make friends and even feel appreciated and not different from the other children.
