Corporate Strategy Decisions and their Marketing Implications
The Super Bowl 2016 is going to be one of the most visited sporting events of the year. It will attract thousands of fans from all over the world to see a spectacular game. In this case it will be timely to talk about the two leading teams of the year 2015. Two great competitors are Dallas Cowboys and New England Patriots.
Forbes put Dallas Cowboys on the first place as the most valuable sports team with current value of $4 bil and revenue of $620 mil, while New England Patriots occupy the second place with $3.2 bil of current value and $494 mil of revenue (Ozanian, 2016). These are the leading teams in the NFL and they are the most implacable opponents.
Dallas Cowboys is definitely the wealthiest team in the NFL; it has an excellent product development strategy in the USA, being the owner of the records for most of the Superbowl appearances. This team has the largest stadium in the world with the most up-to-date facilities. Dallas Cowboys have strong market penetration strategies which make their business a successful one and attract thousands of fans. The same strengths have New England Patriots (NFL.com, 2015). Nevertheless, these two teams have very few fans outside the United States, it makes them unpopular in other countries than America. The teams need to catch the attention of fans from different countries, explore new segments, e.g. China, India as well as they have to invite new talents to the NFL if they want to win the Superbowl (SportsDay, 2016). Moreover, Dallas Cowboys have to stay rivals with Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins in order to increase their fan audience. The only threats this team has are buying of their best players by other teams or rival team threats. As far as New England Patriots are concerned, they have two main threats: first one from their greatest rival Dallas Cowboys that are buying their top players, the second one from the New York Jets who pose threat to their leading position as well.
