Common Difficulties between team members
It is normal for team members participating in a team to have difficulties among themselves. In a team of more than one person or expertise, there is a myriad of different ideas and viewpoints on particular issues. These differences in viewpoints and ideology always present difficulties among the team members. Some of the difficulties that might be experienced in a team tasked with the construction of a restraining wall system include the following;
Poor communication/ miscommunication
The team members possess a different set of skills and ideologies which may be a barrier to effective communication within the team. Some of the team members may address a problem in language or terminologies that only the people within his expertise can comprehend. Various engineering expertise has different sets of terminology that can only be understood by the people within the same expertise (Nancarrow et al 19). When a team is constituted with people with different expertise, it becomes difficult to reach a common ground while communicating issues pertinent to the project.
Inability to resolve conflicts
Poor communication or miscommunication among the team members always lead to conflict within the team. The absence of a homogeneous relationship between the team members can result in conflict given that each team members stick to their idea of what they consider right.
Problems associated with decision-making
Team members may be reluctant in adhering to their appropriate positions while decisions concerning the project. Difficulties in the decision making process are usually expressed in the allocation of resources for different parts of the project. Also, the problem presents itself in the assignment of the task, roles and deadlines for different parts of the project.
Lack of participation
Some group members may refrain from participating in contributing ideas and discussions pertinent to the project. Lack of participation from the team members can result in low morale in the whole team. As a consequence, the team may suffer the problem of lack of creativity. When new ideas are not generated by the team members owing to lack of communication and participation, the team becomes devoid of creativity.
