Sometimes it is really difficult to get prepared for some exam and it is definitely easier to use some cribs or something like this during it than to learn all the stuff which could be even not needed in your future career, in your future life. Cheating on the exam could be really a way out in these situations but still is it fair and could it be tolerated? To my mind students who cannot study or it is difficult for them should not be a part of students’ community, that is why some measures should be taken when the student cheats on the exam but attention should be paid to every single case.
First of all, let us discuss what should happen to the students-cheaters. I think that as soon as it is detected by the professor he has to pay attention to this fact but he should not take some strict action immediately because sometimes students are just talking or they want to take one more pen from a bag but the professor thinks they are cheaters. To my mind such situations should be investigated and the professor has to find out first what is going on and then take some serious actions.
Next thing that has to be discussed in this situation what should really happen to those cheaters, how they should be punished for their unfair behavior. I think the attention should be paid to the seriousness of their exam and to the seriousness of how they cheat. Sometimes students could just say a few words to their mates and I think that in such a situation they should be warned but not punished immediately. However, if they keep speaking with each other they at least have to receive some points minus on their works.
One more important thing that should be mentioned is that students who violate all the rules and cheat on exam using the cribs or their cell phones and other devices should be punished in a serious way. Depending on their unfair actions the teacher could take their works as they are, cancel their results or if it really serious report on them and they will be excluded from the institutional affiliation.
