There is no controversy regarding whether there is a climate change on earth or if there is real climate change. The controversy is as a result whether the human is a fundamental cause of the climate change on the planet and to the enhanced greenhouse effect, or whether the changes in climate is attributable to the natural cycle that has existed in the several years ago. Always, there are natural tendencies that affect some places of the world more than the other regions, but loads of studies and scientists assert that the climate changes are the causes of the climate change is as a result of anthropogenic causes that if not minimized could eventually make the earth uninhabitable. From NASA’s website, Global Climate Change, it is written that the effects of climate change extend to both the humans regarding the people's health. Through the climate change, there has been an increase in the cases of individuals affected by the heat-related deaths in some regions and a decrease in the cold-related mortality rates in other areas. Wildlife is the other category of living things that is affected by the climate change. Climate change is happening drastically that numerous plants species and animal breeds are trying to survive the conditions. Many of the terrestrial, fresh and marine water breeds have shifted their habitats to new locations. Some of the plant and animal species will be at a higher risk of being extinct in global average temperature conditions to go on rising without being monitored. Additionally, climate change has resulted into the melting of ice and the rising of the sea levels. This situation happens concurrently such that when water is heated, it expands while at the same time global warming results into the melting of the polar ice sheets. The effects of the climate have significantly been experienced in areas such as Canadian forests. The forests act as a habitat for numerous species of animals and plants. Also, in Europe, areas such as the Southern and Central Europe are witnessing frequent heat waves, forest fires as the Mediterranean area becoming more vulnerable to drought. Also, regions in the Northern Europe, are becoming wetter with typical winter floods being experienced. NASA’s website, Global Climate Change continues to affirm that economically, damage to property and infrastructure and the health of the human population impacts substantial costs on the communities and the global economy. For example, between 1980 and 2011, the floods had effects on the more than a population of approximately 6 million which consequently resulted in an economic loss of more than €90 billion.
The current amount is more than 380ppm and increasing at a rate of 2.0ppm annually from 2002. The concentration of CO2 has been between 180ppm to 300ppm in the last 650,000 years. This implies that the concentrations are more than the natural cause. The point of agreement in the two opposing sides is that despite the level of concentration of CO2 at a particular time, the result of its concentration at that particular time, however, was the cause of climate change. Climate change has been happening for approximately now 70 years and counting. Climate change emerged as a contentious topic in 2007, but the debate has however been going on for more than eight decades. The comprehension of the climate change started with serious debates among the scientists in the 19th century regarding the ice coverage in the northern Europe thousands of years ago.
Gillard (2011) states that some of the solutions to the climate change include avoiding the use of fossil fuels. This involves doing away with the burning of coal, oil, and natural gas. Secondly, moving closer to one’s place of work will help in reducing the emissions of the CO2 (p. 97). Cutting down of trees should also be avoided as much as possible. Fourthly, the incorporation of climate data initiative will help in the collection information relating to climate to prepare people for any climate issue. The author continues to state that, The President Obama’s action plan on Climate change if well executed is a great way of reducing climate change (p. 102).
The human life is based on the air we breathe and the natural setting of the environment. Interference to the natural way (climate change) implies that my existence and the existence of the human race is also interfered with and as so death can follow. Therefore, for the proper and continual existence of the human race, the issues regarding climate change has to be dealt with categorically and precisely for the better being of the living and non-living things.
