I concur with the idea that ways in which adult learn is different from the ways in which children learn, especially the notion that experience provides the basis for adult learning activities. This notion is also being supported by the study conducted by the Colorado Christian University (CCU). In its study, the CCU found out that whereas adults challenge new information, children implicitly accept it. It also found out that adults learn best by challenging new ideas, comparing them to life lessons and preconceived notions, thereby sealing the new information into their minds (CUU, 2011). I also agree with the idea that group setting is one of the effective methods for conducting a training program for the employees. This is because it allows every person to participate. Also, it offers the employees the opportunity to air their ideas based on their knowledge and experience. Therefore, it enhances the retention capacity of the learners. However, the following questions can be raised.
Is adult learning problem-centered rather than content-oriented?
Nevertheless, I also like the idea that application of technology is another effective method that enhances adult learning in an organization. Leveraging new technologies such as social network, web-conferencing, podcast, collaborative workspace and mobile learning (M-learning), offers the best ways of employee development through learning (OPM.gv, 2016). Furthermore, it is also important for an organization to adopt a training model that allows for collaboration. This is because the process of collaboration is one of the essential factors when it comes to proper training and employee development. Collaboration process allows the employees to interact positively, thereby enhancing their learning process.
