There are shared universal values that encourage conservation of culture and landscapes throughout the world. People throughout the world value conserving the natural resources and beauty of their local lands and other natural resources through equal distribution and ethical use.
The basic commonality between cultures having high western hegemony of tourism is the focus of local government to utilize tourism as one of the main sources of economic development (Leopold Foundation, 2013). The basic difference remains that not all countries have the knowledge to manage the increased inflow of customers and the impact will be seen in the depletion of resources and increased pollution in the popular tourist areas. Every country has the same cause to promote tourism as it endorses economic development without spending large amounts of domestic reserves. But some countries, especially in the developing world are dependent on the tourism sector for their economic development (Environment & Sustainability, 2011).
The global tourism system helps the lesser developed nations to generate employment, infrastructure and upliftment of the society, but at the same time global tourism also impacts the natural resources of less developed countries and leaves their environment polluted for the locals.
Extreme tourism clearly brings challenges and changes along with it that are felt by the locals and their culture. With the heavy inflow of tourists from all over the world, countries face the challenge of marinating their lands, beaches, mountains and other natural resources and ensure they remain useful for the future travelers. Global pressure from the western world tourists and businesses to develop lesser developed countries provides the benefits of economic development but adds the costs of environmental depletion. Global tourism still remains important for countries and they are more than willing to face the costs of increased tourism (Environment & Sustainability, 2011).
