"Global Warming is Eroding Glacial Ice" by Andrew C. Revkin.
The article talks about the various ways on which the mountain glaciers have over the time become an indication of the global warming phenomena. These activities has greatly been influenced by humans disturbances on nature. Important to note is that the natural climate bears some responsibility in the rise in temperature of the entire world .The two phenomenon which are life threatening to planet earth needs to be advocated in order to change this life threatening trend which may deplete life on earth.
Currently the observed rise in temperatures are highly associated with the action of greenhouse gases which tend to adversely increase earths temperatures to dangerous conditions. Andrew c Reviskin also talks on some activities which man conducts in an effort to better their lives while at the same time slowly destroying earth. These activities include processes like the melting of the ice to produce electricity, it is mandatory to regulate this in these regions in order to revert to other ways of producing electricity because the ice will eventually run out leading to more hazardous conditions on earth. On the event that the all the ice melts, it will also have an effect in the rising levels of the seawater. Important to note according to the article is that it has been predicted that an ice cap that is more than a thousand years old is capable of eroding in a period of fifteen years or less as result to the effects of global warming.
There has also been cases of increased flash floods due to the melting of the ice caps ,there has been sufficient proof regarding the glacial erosion by a senior professor at the university of Ohio. This problem goes a long way to affect the animal population. Mt Kilimanjaro is also among the affected mountains which provides electricity to most parts of Africa, its melting rate has pulled back to glacial ice old as five hundred years only in a period of two years. It is therefore important for great care to be taken on our environment in order to avert the dangers associated with this worrying trend.
