Google glass
"It's 2017 and due to the mobile and wearable technologies available, I am amazed by the way that I am able to get my work done, interact with my colleagues and monitor various aspects of my life, including my health, finances, personal security and more. My favorite device allows me not to fumble like I used to with my smartphone. Currently, when I am going to a new place or town, I do not really have to ask for directions. I am able to search for directions to the places that I want to go. Take for instance; I wanted to find a place whereby I could have a snack yesterday. All that I could do was ask my device to provide me with the directions to a popular restaurant. In no time, my device had searched for all popular restaurants and gave me all the recent reviews of the various restaurants beginning with the restaurants with the best customer reviews. As I toured the new city, I was able to take pictures by just commanding my device. This was possible a while ago. My smartphone mobile could not allow me to do this because I had to do it manually. With my previous device, a smartphone, I had to download all the applications that I wanted to use. I remember on the day when my smartphone caused my some huge inconveniences. The applications that I had downloaded to update me about my flights were not up to date. I had to update it every day so that it could be up to date. On day, I missed my flight. With my device currently, I am able to get up to date flight tracking.
Additionally, my device allows me to update my status on all the various social media platforms that are available today. When I am traveling, I can command my device to take pictures of the favorite places and I am able to share them with my friends in the social media platforms. According to Gates (2011), my device is fitted with the latest analyzing technology. When my friends upload their snaps of their favorite places, I do not have to ask them where the places are. The device analyzes the picture and gives me all the information regarding that particular place.in terms of communication, I can honestly say that I was poor in remembering the names of the individuals whom I had met either in social places or at work. Currently, when I meet an individual who starts up a conversation with me, I am able to avoid asking the weird question of telling the individual to remind me of his name. My device has built-in facial recognition software that analyzes the individual's face and gives me the name. The device also allows me to know where we would have probably met with the individual and thus our relationship basis has been created. Currently, it is laughable to remove your device and ask someone for a photo so that you can run a facial recognition device on their face (Wechsler,2007).
In terms of my personal safety, my device is a much way advanced. This device relays all the information to a storage device in my house. When I am traveling and I find my in situations that are not favorable, I am able to instruct the device to alert my friends to inform the police of my impending situation. In case I am mugged, the device can be able to identify an individual through the facial recognition software, and this makes it easy for the police to trace an individual. According to Kaufman (2014), the device is able to monitor my body functions such as my respiration rates and give me feedback when I am supposed to take some exercises and when I am supposed to relax. Being a diabetic individual, the device is able to update me when I shout take my insulin shots. All of the functionalities of this device are very advantageous however; there is some downside to it.
My biggest concerns are, and privacy and security concerns have been. I can hardly wait until all the issues concerning the issue of security and privacy are dealt with. In terms of privacy, the device can be bout by anyone, and since the camera on the google, glasses are camouflaged, one cannot realize the time that another person is filming you secretly. If you have some stalkers then, this device makes it very difficult in your privacy. The stalker can record all your movements without you knowing. Ventura (2014) notes that the other issue is that since the device stores all your information, a hacker somewhere can access all your information by hacking the device. All your private photos can be shared online by a malicious individual as it has happened with several celebrities. The bodies that have been set up to deal with the issue of privacy seem to be toothless, and they do not react as soon as possible. I hope one of these fine days they will be able to catch up with the fast moving technology of our time”.
