Hainan Airlines is an airline founded in 1989 which main headquarters is located in Haikou, China. It is the largest privately owned air company and in terms of fleet size is the fourth largest in China. It is the first airline in the Republic to be classified as one of the seven 5-star airlines in the world. In 2011, Hainan Airlines earned its accident-free reputation for 18 years. In addition to this, the airlines also have a standing of highest on-schedule flight records. All in all, Hainan operates over 90 routes, with over 500 domestic and international termini.
Hainan Airlines currently operates a fleet of 122 passenger aircraft (China Highlights 1998), which includes Boeing 737 and 767 as well as the Airbus A320, A330, and A340, and the Dornier 328 with a hub-to-hub route structure. Some aircrafts are available for flight every day, and some are only scheduled for one or three flights a week. International and regular flights are also operated by the airlines to several destinations such as flights from Beijing to Brussels, Berlin, Seattle, St. Petersburg, Chicago, and others. In addition to this, Hainan Airlines also offers special charter flights from Shanghai to Brussels; from Urumqi to Astana; Sanya to Seoul; Beijing to Bangkok; and others.
The average age of the aircrafts of Hainan Airlines is 5.1 years and the expansion of the fleet is continuing and additional aircrafts are soon to arrive. The airlines also offers a number of services for its customers such as free checked baggage limitation, luggage allowances, and special service requests for wheelchair services as well as pregnant passengers.
