The computer games are becoming more and more popular nowadays. The whole industry of video games exists now and it is growing year by year, releasing new products on the market. There is a great variety of them for all ages and tastes. Not only kids but also adults are playing, spending their time in the parallel reality. While people are playing, the time passes very quickly and it can have a negative effect on their lives. As a student, I also play video games. After some time I started realizing that they can influence my study process for real. This impact is rather negative because computer games are taking too much of my time and sometimes I could not finish my homework because of them. The point is that there is a big influence that video games are producing on students’ grades and it can be revealed in different ways.
The second point is that video games are not very educative but addictive. There could be various discussions about this, but all in all, video games are usually based on imaginary situations that are not teaching the same things that the school or the university does. Even when the game is based on the motives of some famous battle or a war, there are not many facts that could really help the student. Instead of learning, people are running and shooting in imaginary characters. Such involvement in the process decreases the concentration on the real life. This once again means that the level of care about the studies is lowing and as a result, the grades are falling as well. The addictiveness of games could provoke even changes in person’s behavior. For example, they can become more nervous or impatient.
In conclusion, video games are interesting and popular entertainment. However, the time passed with video games should be strictly controlled in order not to cause harm to the study process. Of course, there are still some possible positive effects as the development of concentration, imagination or logical thinking. Nevertheless, there are more negative sides than positive. All in all, we should try to maintain the balance between the computer reality and our lives no matter how attractive the video games are.
