Introduction
Different situations demand different approaches hence a need for application of different leadership styles. That is because the situation entails differing environment and people in consideration. In that view, the healthcare industry leadership is dependent on the industry conditions as well as the critical issues that leaders should address. Thus, the suitable leadership theory for application is that which efficiently addresses those conditions in manners that enhance healthcare organizations performance and sustainability. With that consideration, this report presents a creation for a personal leadership philosophy that addresses what the healthcare industry leaders should address, the suitable theory and rationale for its choice.
Role the health care leader should play
Owing to the industry’s services sensitivity and nature of operations, healthcare is subject to uncertainty and required adequate preparedness for possible future events. In that respect, the key roles of a healthcare leader included predicting and analyzing as well as explaining the situations and exerting control and influence over others to participate in key strategic activities.
Leadership theory that should be followed and the rationale
Considering the industry’s nature, contingency theory that focuses on the characteristics of the situation in concern rather than the individuals involved is the most suitable for healthcare. The theory’s choice is because healthcare industry is mainly subject to a dynamic environment hence requires abilities to utilize information and plan for possible future events that are not planned for. Within the ability to address uncertain situations, the leader can efficiently address issues in the industry hence their increased success.
Description of the current sphere of influence and application of the philosophy described in this capacity
As the team leader responsible for clinical staff team, the role provides responsibilities including planning for suitable programs that enhance the staff’s career progress. Such programs include staff training and participation in other departments’ roles as a way of developing all round skills. In that respect, my influence relates to the staff’s participation on other duties that enhances their clinical operations’ efficiency. In that role, the contingency theory has been of great importance as it helps prediction and planning for the clinical operations needs in terms of skills and personnel. That entails considering the situational factors rather than my characteristics and traits as a leader. Thus, relationship development and the leader’s influence is mainly dependent on the nature of the factors involved. It, therefore, requires the adoption of leadership styles that suit the specific situation as the contingency theory states that no single style is suited for all situations.
Use of power as it applies to the personal leadership philosophy
In the leadership position, power is dependent on the relationship that exists between the leader and the other team members which is in turn dependent on the situation. For unfavorable situation, there is low power as the other team members would be less willing to be led. On the other hand, a favorable situation would presents a good relationship with the team members being more willing to b e led hence provide high power level for the leadership. In that respect, the contingency theory that considers the situation is more suitable as it deals with the nature of conditions and factors in concern hence ability to determine the suitable level of power to be applied.

Survey results and how they support personal philosophy on leadership
The above Leadership survey’s results indicate that I mainly apply the participative style that is democratic with a high score of 48 out of the total possible 50 points. In that respect, I mainly seek participation of the other team members in planning and executing necessary strategies. The theory is in support of a personal leadership philosophy that seeks to empower all the team members as a means of enhancing their decision making and ability to address the unique conditions relating to their tasks.
Conclusion
In view of the analysis, it is clear that the healthcare industry is subject to dynamic forces that make the future more uncertain. In that respect, the suitable leadership theory for the industry is one that addresses the industry conditions rather than focusing on the leader's traits. The theory would be crucial in helping the leaders with their key roles of predicting the situations, analyzing and explaining them as well as influencing others to participate in the achieving strategic goals. Further, in my position as the leader of the clinical staff members, I can influence the level of involvement of the staff members on other matters that seeks to enhance the hospitals operations. The role has had great importance in my understanding of how situation factors influence the relationships between the leader and the followers. Thus, it has informed my choice for leadership philosophy that focuses on the situation conditions instead of the leader’s characteristics. Finally, the analysis through the leadership survey has identified my preferred leadership style to be participative and democratic.
